It seems like overnight, we have waltzed into Fall after a short but steamy little summer. Things are lined up well right now with more than enough bait around to fuel a blockbuster fall season.

New York is seeing great top water action for striped bass in the usual spots, some good bluefish action as well, and the offshore guys are getting into decent tuna action, mixed with some of the warmer water species.

This crazy weather continues and with it we have had some unpredictable yet, at times, excellent fly fishing. The flats fishing on the east end has been productive wehen sunlight has been available. Despite almost daily downpours and thunderstorms of biblical proportions, the fishing across the region has been strong with water temps hanging in there right around perfect. Read on and find out why!

Again… with the weather. While flats fishing has sufffered minorly, of late, due to obvious visibility issues, there has been much ado within our region during what seems to be an extended early season, due to low temps, much cloud cover, weather and rainfall.

Truly, downright wet weather has only minorly hindered the great fishing we have been enjoying. A couple tidal cycles has been enough to clear up any sediment we’ve had in the water. Flats fishing has taken a little bit of a beating due mostly to the lack of sunlight.

Fly fishing across the region has been strong and steady over the past week. Large fish are being taken on the Jersey shore, around the metro area and Jamaica Bay and out east.
