First time up to the NMR. I launched my canoe right before the Cape security gate. Paddled North about 1 mile and then went East until I found a flat. Wade fished for about 1 hour without locating any fish. I did spook one red which didn't swim off until I was practically standing on him.

Later, I drifted near the shoreline and casted to a few reds, but they wouldn't take my fly. Started throwing a sluggo and had one follow, but no takes.

It was real cold on Friday night and Saturday, and I'm thinking that the fish were pretty reluctant to hit any baits due to the weather. Well, at least I'll use that as an excuse.
I've heard that this is one of the best areas to fish in the IRL, but it looks like I have a lot of learning to do. If anyone has fished there and wants to head out in my canoe let me know.
Dave
