Alright - last question before we head down:

We've decided to bring the boat even though we may not be able to use it in the inlet and in the hook. Looked into going out with Capt. Joe, but no space available that fit into our schedule.

So it looks like it'll be the $10 ride to the hook to fish for albies from shore, but we'll probably want to spend a lot of time using the boat in the back waters of the sound. Any advise on spots to look for drum, specks in the marsh? Can we count on catching spanish and possibly an albie in the more protected sound waters inside the inlet? Any advice you can give for these inner sound waters will be appreciated. Thanks!

JM, if you want a guided boat I have contact for a group of guides that work together down there at Harker's. Among the bunch of them, they may have something available. If you want to ask what they have cooking, the number is

Looks like we are in for a soakin' Friday.

Advice,
as soon as you get in town go buy a water proof map of the area. This will help answer many of your questions.
All the marinas have them. In The hook itself you can catch specks, drum albacore, spanish. But you don't have to go that far to catch drum and trout. Don't worry about a thing. Everyone down here is etremely helpful. The sight fishing for the drum is only getting better as the fall approaches. I don't know the date your looking for but feel free to call, we have a network of local guides who specialize is the inshore fishery. 252-240-2850 please leave a mesage. CApt DAveDietzler
