I'm considering purchasing a 1998 Aquasport 175 Osprey with a 90HP Johnson for fishing and tubing with kids in the local river (Sakonnet & Narragansett Bay in R.I.). This is my first boat purchase - looking for some feedback from anyone who has owned/used an Aquasport.

I bought the same boat at the Boston boat show a
couple of weeks ago. This past weekend I had a
chance to work at breaking in the motor.
Previous boat was a 16' 40hp flat bottom tin boat.

The Osprey was tested on the waters of Buzzards
Bay , the cape cod canal, and in vineyard sound.

The worst conditions were in the canal, strong current
running west and the wind blowing east. The ride was
much smoother than the tin which was what I was
looking for. It handle the conditions well enough that
my wife felt safe at all times and deemed the ride
exciting. I look forward to exploring new fishing areas
with this boat and being confident that it will get me
back to port in a timely manner.
Cruises very nicely in light chop and tops out at about
37mph (gps reading)

I have owned a 175 osprey for four year, mine is a 1996. I fish etensively and it has been a great boat. Mine came with an evenrude 88HP special.
I installed a poling platform, bennit trim tabs, a second battery with a selector switch and a remote plug in recptacle for charging the batteries. I would be happy to answer any questions you may have.

So far I like the boat as is.

What kind of difference does adding the trim tabs make?

Came with a West Marine radio and 8'fiberglass antenna, think I would like to go to the shorter stainless whip to reduce interference with casting.

I had a raw water wash installed
Now would like to work on a way of pulling the few lobster pots I have and not mar the boat.

6 years back I purchased a used 24ft Aquasport w/ cuddy cabin with Twin 115 Merc's.
A great boat !! Hull design allows handling of rough water very well and is spacious enough for 4 guys fishing ( even when casting ).

I can't comment on the smaller hull models.
