Does anyone know who might sell 1/4 oz lead eyes? a friend tried a fly tied with one and hooked a helluva striper in 75 feet of water at Devil's Bridge last summer. Obviously not a tool for a purist and a chore to cast (remember to duck), but would be fun to try on occasion.

1/4 oz. At that weight buy a 1/4oz jig head and make a
bucktail jig with the pattern you prefer.

What about using a depth charge line, say 400g and
dumping 75' of line over the side? If your trying for fish
that are in deep water, casting is not important.

You may want to just get the biggest eyes you can, and use lead wire for adding weight. I tie a peanut bucker way so it falls quickly into blitzs. Tie the wire behind the eyes on the shank. Most patterns cover the shank with material anyway.

Check out the Hunters Angling website. They have a very good selection of materials.

at that point put the fly rod away and get out a bucktail or a hopkins spoon you will catch more fish.
