I'm in the market for a VHF radio this spring. I like the small Raytheon units, compact, waterproof, reasonable price.
I'll be mounting it on my side consol so the face will be pointed up, it could get a lot of spray, rain. Any suggestions/experience with other radios. max ~ $250 Thanks

For what it's worth, I picked up the Standard Horizon Eclipse Plus at the boatshow last year for 10% off plus there was a $20 rebate going as well. Mine's mounted inside the slide door of the center console, so it doesn't get too wet, but it is waterproof, can be flush mounted and has a flat repair rate as many do. Pretty simple, small design, and I like the scanning option.
Although they are apples and oranges, after some less than great experience with the Raytheon/Apelco fishfinders and what I've been reading laely in the paper about Raytheon Corp. generally, I'd stay clear of their lower-end stuff. Just my opinion, the VHF's may be different.
Look for a deal at the boat show...
