On my very "Last" fresh water trip in very cold wintry-spring last year, I gave my trusted Daiwa "Millionare", on a lovely Ugly-Stick to my Son, as I had the latest-greatest Shimano($) on it's own proud stick. Several rapid strikes as the baby trout touched the water meant it was going to be an absolutly "Great" day..
On my Son's third Rigged-Trout the rod was quickly snatched out of his hand as he transferred it to the "Retrieve" hand..I watched as the Rod handle sailed past me into the depths being towed by a very angry Striper..Being an expert swimmer and diver (USN) I quickly dropped my rod and plunged in after the Daiwa.. As I past the first thermo-cline with the rod handle sooooo close, It dawned on me that my legs had already slowed in the near freezing waters..I chose to allow the Striper to maintain ownership. As I struggled back into the boat I only said to my son that he could spend the rest of the day "Watching" me fish...
He then informed me that he did'nt think so..Because as I went after his Rod, I also knocked mine over.....Neither was to ever be seen again.. by us....
