Sea Lice and the canal

Time to show my lack of knowledge, but could someone explain what sea lice are? How do you tell if they are present on a striper?

Also, I'll be heading to the cape this weekend, and has anyone had any luck down that way? I'm thinking of trying the canal and some of the bay entrances, maybe I can hook into some early arrivals.

Look at fish

Sides

belly

see small brownish 1/4" wormy things

sea lice

fish fresh from migrating in open water.

must save 3/4 cup

Thanks for the info, Now I know what people are talking about when they ask if there were sea lice on fish that have been caught.
