4/26 Lees River Report

Fished the Lees river this afternoon with my Dad. First time I fished with my father in about 8 years. He's visiting from out of town. I wanted him to catch a striper in a bad way. He does a lot of fresh water fishing.

Things were slow for awhile. I finally hooked one on a popper but it got off. We fished for quite awhile longer. Finally my father got one. He quickly released it. Took another cast on got another one. Took a third cast and got another one. Three right in a row. That made my day. Nothing big but at least it was something. I caught another small one. We tried some more but it wasn't happening.
There is a decent amount of bait in there. The fish are there but they were'nt very active.

I hear you. My father's only flyfished trout in puny streams in upstate NY. Noble and fun, but I'm always daydreaming about putting him on some nice stripers. We've been out a couple of times and got skunked. This year he'll be here in June. I can almost promise a hook-up then and pray for a worm hatch.
