I recently fished out of a 21' Privateer center console, and really liked the hull. It is very wide, takes waves well, and has wide gunwales that you can walk around on. I don't know much about the construction of the boats though - they
are very expensive new, and I am wondering about the expected lifespan of an older hull, say a mid-80's one. Did they use wood stringers and transom? Or is it all fiberglass? does anyone have any thoughts on these boats?

thanks,
Marc

These boats are very simple in construction. Even if the floor and transom were bad someone with basic skills and the West Systems boat repair and construction book could handle replacing the floor and transom. How long a wood transom and floor will last is totally up to the care taken by the previous owner. It is extremely important on such a boat that evert screw that goes into the wood be sealed.
