I fished the canal this morning from about 5 - 7:30 using a white bucktail with pork rind. I was near the Sag. bridge and got 3-4 hits, two hook-ups, and one landed (31"). Not hot but it would seem a non herring approach is viable now. I didn't see anyone else hook-up but there were very few fishermen where I was.

Tight Lines,

Gregg

I was in that area this morning also, on the Cape Side. I got several hits on a Yellow 2oz Gibbs Pencil Popper. I finally hooked up and landed a very hungry 32" fish. Most of the figh I put the plug on just ignored it but its starting to look good.

Nah, I actually never left my spinning roots. I'm just much more passionate about flyfishing. That said ... I can't explain why but I really enjoy throwing jigs in the canal - I use them almost exclusively.
