View Full Version : Looking for Flats in the BVI, Tortolla, Anegada, Virgin Gorda
Headed to the BVI for some Island R&R. Got access to a boat and bringing my fly rods. The tourist guides go on about Bones, Permit etc... Anyone ever actually had some success? Any/all info is appreciated.

I'll be on Anegada 2/16 - 3/2, staying at Nutmeg cottage (on nutmeg point). Let's meet up and I'll tell you what I've found.

There is a goood piece about flyfishing BVI in this month's "Saltwater Flyfishing"...or one of the many flyfishing I read.

Any posts on your Anegada trip. Curious
Had a great trip. Sailed the BVI and like the article in Flyfishing in Saltwaters Mag. - the place holds fish. Anegada is a beautiful place and miles of flats and few people. Hooked up on a couple of Bones on my own fishing out of my zodiac dinghy and wading. Saw the Garfield Brothers (guides)and their client's casting to a few more fish - including a 25lb Tarpon right in the harbor. (What I would have given for a 8ft. Poling platform...) Other flats in the islands also held some fish. While Fishing was not my primary focus for this trip, there was plenty of opportunity to keep me hoping for more time on the flats!!

There is a good flat for Bones to the right after you cross the brige from the airport on Beef Island tortolla. Also some flats on Jost Van Dyke, Anagoda has probable the best Bone fishing. Tarpon can be anywhere around Tortola and Anagoda, look for pelicans working over bait.
