My friend Bob helped me with my annual boat move from 3 mile harbor to Montauk Saturday. It was a beautiful day, with low winds and clear skies, but not much to speak of in terms of catching.

Started with a drift at the ruins and then headed straight to Montauk without seeing much but blue skies. Saw some blue pop-ups off and on once we got to Montauk, but nothing that stayed around long.

Tried the stretch of shore on the south side that was good last week - got one follow.

Tried another spot further west outside the surfers. Had better action there, 4 bass in about an hour, but nothing over 24 inches.

Bob had recently gone tuna fishing in New England, and wanted to run 5 to 7 miles offshore to look for bluefin. I had never seen shore from that far out (all I expected to see), so we ran south then east and saw one bluefish near an escaped kite floating on the surface.

Went back to shore and worked our way back from the south shore to Turtle Cove. Had another 2 follows and 1 hit, but that was it.

Tuna,

Thanks again for the report. There was lots of smaller stuff around low tide between Cartwright and Devon. Bluefish and bass around 20"
