I am new to this forum. Let me introduce myself. I am an avid fisherman living on Long Island. I have fished around the world for most all game fish from Atlanic Salmon to Tuna fish, and have have fly fished since I was a boy. I own an off shore boat out of Montauk, which I primarily use for tuna. It is fully outfitted. I troll the canyons and the off shore ledges for Yellow Fins, Long Fins, and Marlin, and also catch tons of Mahi on flys at the off shore pots.
In the fall I fish a bit closer ( about 25 miles off shore )for school blue fins by chunking, which we fly fish for when the fish show up in good numbers by the boat. In late September, if I am able, I like to go to Nantucket for a week and fish the Giants which sometimes congragate there.
The reason for this post is that I am looking for a few very dedicated anglers to build a dedicated and harmonious crew. Most of my friends are not fisherman, or get sea sick. The very close fisherman friends I have either live on Martha's Vineyard or in the Catskills making it difficult for them to be permanent crew members and only occationally are able to join me. I don't want to sound like at all like a snob, but there are a few qualifications needed in order to become a crew member. You must love fishing, not get sea sick, be able to stand up in the seas and fight a pretty tough fish, have very flexable work ethics enabling you to take off weekends or during the week, and go off shore. You also should be able to share in the expense of the fuel, bait and food. If I get some responses, we will go from there.
