I'm usually on the NE board as I live in Mass. but will be
headed to Sagaponik (Bridgehampton) for a wedding
this w/e. Any pointers as to where I could wet a line for
an early morning hour or so? I don't know the area and
can only pry loose from the festivities for a little bit so
easy access to a shore spot with decent wading would
be ideal. Sounds like Montauk is hot right now and
would hate to miss it completely.
Thanks in advance,
Sam
One spot to try would be Turtle Cove. It is right next to the lighthouse at Montauk. Sometimes the fish feed close to shore there, although its a few weeks early to expect that as a regular occurence.
Another spot to try would be Caswells. I have not fished from shore, so I do not know the ins and outs of access to it, but it is further south from Turtle Cove and there are often fish among the rocks on shore in the area.
And in between (Turtle Cove and Caswells) - there's a radar station about midway between the spots, which I doubt you can see from shore, but there's some nice structure there and a shot at fish from shore.
Good luck Sam - hope you don't get in any trouble if the fish make you just a tad bit late to the wedding.

Tuna,
Thanks for the info. My original post was before Tues. I
hope everyone close to you and the others on this
board are safe and sound. It's a little hard to think of
fishing at the moment, but perhaps some
contemplative time waist deep in salt water will be
good for me.

Birdman:
By all means hit the water, I intend to.
The terrorists want to disrupt our lives, to instill fear, to control us.
Although my thoughts will be not focused soley on the water (I am still in shock), I will not provide another win for the terrorists by failing to fish. As you mention, water can have a calming effect and put things in perspective, plus I am a certified albie nut and no terrorist is going to make me sane.
This is an individual decision for each of us. It is not wrong to not fish now and in the near future - it is also not wrong to try to continue to live our lives.
I hope to fish with my brother Friday, and my best friend Saturday. I have spoken with both, but look forward to seeing them both in person, and maybe catching some fish. Will posts results Sunday or Monday, hoping I do not offend.

Tuna,
No offense taken in the slightest. I think your point was
right on the money. We all need to pull closer and
reassemble our lives - what better way than fishing.
Enjoy your day with your brother and friend. Maybe we'll
meet on a beach somewhere, I think I'd like that.
Tight lines.
Sam
BTW I prowl the NE board pretty reguarly and I fish
Block Island a lot. If you're over that way fire off a post on
the NE board.
