Got crushed by some big yellows this weekend. I posted my report on the NY site. No fly action, but you could have creamed mahi all nite. They wove in and out of our slick like ghosts, illuminated by our lights, against the black nite sea. Too busy or serious getting another big yellow on 50s and 80s.
The biggest yellow, about 125 was taken on a Shimano TLD20. Yes a 20, with 80# non stretch spectra so you can load 600 yards. The rod and reel is graphite composite making it feather weight and easy to work. They are very effective as well because the bait dead drifts beautifully and naturally on the spectra which runs off the reel without even using your other hand. But man, the no stretch with a 22 pound drag setting is brutal.
That's the offshore report. Has anyone heard anything about the Giants off Nantucket or Mass??? Let me know ASAP if you have some reliable information.
Thanks, Howie
