I've been searching for this information lately. What does the offshore crew here think? Do you need stingers on flies for school bluefins or is a single strong hook enough? From what I have gathered, singles will do for tunoids but for billfish u really become more successful with the added stinger....Jeff

FWIW, Kris Jop caught his 75-pound Bluefin on a 6-inch Sea Habit with a 6/0 stinger, according to the report on Reel-Time.And a quick look at Trey Combs's book is inconclusive on the point.

I've been told you should use a trailer when you'll be trolling teasers and casting to teased fish. Single hooks for working a chum slick, breaking or basking fish, weed line or other structure.
