Fished Wednesday Oct 3. Got royally skunked offshore trying to find fish.

Offshore : Nada. Went all the way to the dump because schoolies mixed with Giants there before the blow, and then worked back west through the fingers and butterfish hole just 25 miles south of the point. Fished behind draggers dumping by-catch with whole blue fish as bait, to slow trolling horse ballyhoo rigged split billed swimming style. Saw nada, caught nada. Water in good shape but temp breaks mixed, and bait obviously dispersed.

Inshore: Came past the point at around 3:30pm and played with 3-4 pound blue fish which were hitting the surface off the light and Jone's reef. Pods of blues rather than whole areas, with action tapering off early at around 5:00pm. Maybe some albies mixed but you couldn't cast there due to a brisk south west wind. Jigs where what was being used by most boats. We made some bait for the next offshore Giant hunt and had some fun doing it. Left the point at around 5:15pm, passed Shagwong hoping for some action but nada at at Shagwong, so just went past it heading for home.
So there was some activity at the point showing a bait biuld up, and hopefully we don't have another blow too soon so the biuld will increase. The weekend outlook is that there may be another front coming through bringing another drop in temperature which usually is associated with strong NW winds on the return flow. There not calling for wind as of yet, but they are calling for the temperature to drop.
Howie.
