Weather forecast looks pretty good, I haven't fished in nearly four weeks, thinking about trailering the flats skiff out to Montauk for two days. Anybody have any recent report?

From what Josh says in the thread below (about how by Friday last week the Point had recovered), absent a more recent report than Monday (in thread below), my guess is that the Point itself may not be great the 11th, but from Shagawong East there should be good fishing. As I said in my reply on the other other board, I'm planning to head to Gardiners the 11th and wait until Friday or Saturday to try the Point (unless everything west of Montauk Lake is dead).

Was out Monday and Tuesday at the point. Tuesday was bonkers with Albies and Bluefish. got a few 27" bass but nothing like I expected. water 59 and pretty murky unless you head west. Amazing amount of albies from ditch plains to the point to shag depending on what the tide was doing. had a hell of a time hooking up though and ended up with 4 for the day for the boat. Only got them when I had 4 feet or more #12 floro leader and a white #4 bunny fly. all the bluefish you wanted. the whole gang was out there and at one point counted 20+ fly boats. mosltly were cool and considerate. MOnday we were totally alone as it was blowing 30+ and had a hell of a time getting to the south side in our 20 Maritime skiff. once there it was pretty flat but not alot of fish either. no Albies that day. afew bass and blues were it. seems as though the cleaner the water, the better the fishing. I guess that is obvious, but since I usually fish Jamaica Bay where it is rarely clear, it is hard to know without being out there longer. Thought I saw some Bonito by Caswells and hooked one but snapped it off on a tangle.... so anyway by weekend you should be in great shape as a few more tides and it looked like the point would have cleared. good luck and wish I was going to be there...
