Any recomendations for knots to connect the mono leader to the intermediate flyline? This will be used on a 15/17 wt.rod in Panama for marlin and anything else that may bite. I don't think that a nail knot will have the strength to hold up.

Not sure how thick the fly line you'll be using will be, but an albright would probably lock it in pretty well. The bulk might not make it through the guides though.

Not an albright unless you put a lock in it with a reverse clinch knot. Otherwise the running line can slip out of the knot under constant long pressure.

I'd recommend the technique Steve Moore showed me; triple nail knot the line to a 60# butt section of leader and gloop over each of the nail knots with pliobond.

Another alternative I'd trust for strength but wich will not go through the guides is a small loop in the line, again triple nail knotted and glooped. That can be looped to a double surgeon's loop in a butt section of leader.

Why not a whip finished loop, covered with pliobond in the fly line, and then a Perfection or Non-Slip loop in the butt section?
This should test stronger than any tippet you should be using.
