PoacherCharters

I know it sounds like the same old story, but the striper fishing at Oregon Inlet gets better each day. On 12/17 I had my charter boat "Poacher" on the bar at Oregon Inlet at day break, and was greeted with the usual hot bite. My charter had their limit by 7:15AM,(10lbs to 25lbs) all on eels and 2olb spinning tackle and released another 20 or so. On 12/19 same early action at the bar, first 2 casts had hookups and for the next hour every cast that hit the whitewater had a bite. Had an early limit and released another 4 or 5 before going out into the ocean to look for some larger fish. 2 miles north of the inlet in 50feet of water were the birds and huge marks. On the first pass 5 out of 6 rods bent over and in the next hour we landed another 17 stripers with these being much larger fish(20lbs to 30lbs)all being released. These fish were landed trolling with inline sinkers and bucktails. We finished the morning with 40 fish and left them biting. The inlet has a huge scool of fish there and schools are scattered up and down the beach. Heard of a school in Duck today that was 2 miles in length. Bigger fish are showing up daily, heard of several fish pushing the 40lb range yesterday. One of my good friends landed a 37lber on a spoon on his first cast in the surf in Duck yesterday. So I feel like we are getting ready to see some serious striper action in the upcoming weeks. For some striper photos go to my website and hit fishing report.
