Has anyone had experience with the Ron Thompson saltwater rods? These are rather inexpensive UK rods (roughly $106) that can be purchased from several sites including Tacklebargains.com I just received a 4-piece 8/9 wt. rod and it casts fairly well. Not quite the fast tip action of my Diamondback, but a nice change of pace. The blank seems decent enough quality and certainly stiff enough to throw 10 wt. shooting heads if desired. The rod seems made well enough although there is no warranty or fancy rod tube. Actually the plastic shipping tube serves well enough. Makes a nice backup and good travel rod. Will test it out next month for reds in Florida.
