Unexpectedly, I'm looking to book a 5-7 day flyfishing trip for bones in mid-March. Getting reasonable airline fares at this relatively late date may dictate where I go. It'll be just me and my (20 yr. old) son, so don't need fancy surroundings or ambiance for the girls, just good fishing. Don't want places terribly hard to get to that take 2 days' travel, etc.
2 Places I'm contemplating are Abaco and Belize. Anybody have comments on either of those? Any other suggestions?
Thanks.
Bob

Hi Bob Ive been to Abaco twice, 1 good trip 1 bad,I would stay away from Sandy Point. We went there last year 1st week of April. Its getting too crowded, almost every place we fished there was 2 or 3 boats, 1 flat our guide took us to had 6 fishermen on it when we got there, I would never go back to Sandy Pt. I have booked a trip to andros island bone fish club 1st wee of April this year, I havent been there yet but have never heard anything but good about it.
Good luck let me know where you end up, Michael

Would suggest you try Andros in the Bahamas, there are many places to stay and they have nice fish around the island. Belize has smaller fish in general but has better tarpon and permit if you want to chase them..

Hey,

I've been to Andros twice and loved it both times. However, I did spend less than half on my second trip than I did on my first one. I had special circumstances the second time around.

If you're really interested in saving a substantial amount of money(nearly half) and want a guide who will work his tail off to get you into a good casting position...let me know. My wife is a total novice, but I have no doubt that this guy will make things a damn-site easier for her. He's great, I can honestly say that we're buddies after our first outing. He affectionately refers to me as "Paulie." I'm planning on going within the next several months with my wife and my new
in-laws. I doubt I'll ever fish at another "lodge" on Andros as long as this guy is around.

I've never been to Abaco, not to degrade it in anyway, but I hear there aren't many hard, wadable flats within close distance of many of the lodges. Standing on the bow is fun, but there's nuthin' like stalking a school of bones or singles on solid footing.

Anyway, if you're interested, e-mail me and I'll get all of the necessary info. to you so that you can at least check him out.

Thanks,
Paul
