This is the bane of the light-tippet offshorestuff. You do it all perfectly, and then a shark sandpapers your 20# tippet to a 2#. Or a tarpon. Last year we learned that 30# of pressure, applied straight up, kept blue sharks from rolling up in the leader. I had no such luck with tarpon last month, where their roll-turn would drag the leader across their whole side. They sure know how to wear away leaders, eh?

Does anyone know a way to keep fish from rolling up in the leader when fishing with light tippets? Does slacking off make sense when you see a roll's imminent? (My guess is that ti doesn't with sharks, but might with other fish.)
