So I've been talking about getting a boat for the last 6 years. This year I finally came to the conclusion that I MUST HAVE ONE! I have decided not to rush into anything, so in January I will start my serious persuit. Now I want to be in the water come MAY. I live in Souther New England and have been around fishing and boats pretty much all my life. (father is a com. fisherman) I've pretty much narrowed down how much I want to spend. I'm looking to spend about 10-15K. I've got my name on a list for a slip at a couple marinas. I got a storage place for the winter. So I need some suggestions on what to look into. Obviously used. Here are the reqs:

22-24ft
Cuddy cabin
I/O a must!
fishing boat/rec boat, but none of that ski stuff with all the nice pillows and stuff.
As far as electronics go, I'll get into that stuff at a later date.

So if you guys can send me some suggestions on good sturdy boats to look into I'd appreciate it. I guess I need some info on manufactorers, boat hull makers and how they handle.

I will probably be fishing the southeast shores of MA, in case you need that information.

Thanks in advance.

That price point might be tough for something decent. However, here are some ideas:

mid-'80s Chris Craft Sea Hawk 22
mid-'80s Wellcraft Coastal 250
mid-'80s Sport-Craft 220 Fisherman
early-'80s Grady White 24 Offshore

Any of these older boats will need a thorough marine survey and will probably need some engine work.

If this is your first boat, you might want to consider a newer 18'-21' center console. These are more readily available and will require much less work. That way you can concentrate on learning about boating and not learning about fixing a boat!
