Hello Yakers ! I am searching for my first Kayak and seem to like the Walden Scout a great deal, stable and big cockpit primarily. Flat water usage with the occasional and I mean occasional saltwater foray to sandbars where I will wade. I do not anticipate fishing from the kayak in the salt. Anyone have a strong yay or nay on the Walden Scout ? Thanx, Kent in NH

I have been fishing (fly) from a Scout for 3 years, and LOVE it. It is incredibly stable, but also has the needed efficiency for pushing against an outgoing tide. I use it primarily on Joppa flats, Plum Island and the Merrimack River, but have also used it down on the Cape and in Florida.
I think you are making a good decision.

Looks like a good choice for your stated needs. ( providing your not too big a guy.) I looked at them hard myself a few years back. Only chose the pungo as it seemed the proven choice for rougher water use.
Try before you buy though!

I use a Scout as well. Primarily Plum Island, Joppa Flats and the Merrimac. I have made forays into the ocean with it. It can handle a certain amount of rough conditions, i.e. windy & choppy, but I tend to stay away from that. The boat is stable and roomy. The large cockpit is nice, I'm no twinkie, or is it that I eat too many of them?
Good Luck on your purchase.
