Hey guys,

Have been experimenting with fluoro leaders the past two years. I was wondering how you guys connect to main line ie. knots, barrel swivel etc?

Also what names of line do you favor for a main line? Has anyone tried the new fluoro's for main line? Was in the garage getting stuff ready for this year(bored) and had thoughts running in my head.

One last one, do any of you have a barrel swivel on the hook that's connected to the leader on trolling lures. Some told me that it helps on hook sets etc... Was wondering you thoughts.

I tie a 15' double-line bimini in the main line, and use an offshore knot to tie on a snap swivel, typically a 200# sampo to 80# line. The leaders are 10' long, crimped to a sleeve, 150# for most light tuna/dolphin lures. I use green Ande tournament, 80# for 50SW and 50# for 30SW. 30# on light conventional and heavy spinning reels.
I've been tracking the arguments between the stiff vs flexible single vs double-hook rigs. Until I see something definitive I'll continue with single flexible rig, i.e. a crimped sleeve through a hook eye. Don't think it makes much of a difference to go to a snelled hook, though.
I also make sure I have a chafe tube where the line goes through a lure head. Especially on cedar plugs.
