since i fish the canal exclusively, i can't be accused of being terribly bright.
however, after having just broke my 4th graphite in 26 months, i need another rod....fast.
i'm looking at an e-glass conventional blank. i realize they are a composite blank. i also realize they are slightly heavier than the graphites i've grown so used to.
plus, from what i've seen, they seem to be more of a mid-flex rod, as opposed to a fast tip-flex graphite.
however, i'm told they are more rugged, and far more forgiving than graphites. esp to bumps and bangs.

ANY OPINIONS?

TIA,

Although they are not as fast as graphite, I think the e-glass or a hybrid blank would be better. Especially if your running thru one every 6 months. If you build your own check out Clemens custom tackle, for a multitude of blanks. If not check M&D's in Wareham (Mike) or take a drive up to CMS in New Bedford.

Glass was the medium of choice for over 20 years for fly rods. Tarpon, Bones, Atlantics, and yes Stripers have been caught quite successfully with glass. The action will be different but the rod will do the work for you. You may have to get used to it but I think you may like it. Check out Kenny Abrames web site. He doesn't sell a glass rod but advocates a long slower action rod for striper fishing. Give it a shot.
