I have been watching the DMF site and emailing with ASMFC to find out about the new striper amendment which was to be released last Friday. Now I have found on the new DMF site that they plan to revise the regulations prior to discussion of the ASMFC amendment. They've been flying low, off the radar. Here's the synopsis:

Increase Commercial quota from 800,000 to 1,000,000
Change recreational daily bag limit from 1 fish over 28" to 2 fish over 28" with one over 40"

I would have waited to run it in the FishWire tomorrow, but this it too important. They want to have this done before the September ASMFC striper regulation hearings.

Make plans now to attend the meetings. Since we haven't had time to evaluate this, or the ASMFC amendment to the plan, I have to say our only option is to back CCA who wants no change to the regulations.

From my point of view this is not a commercial vs. recreational issue, it is an issue of cramming new regulations down our throat without time for proper review.
