Shelter Island

I am planning on spending some time on Shelter Ialnd and wanteed to get some info on guides,etc. I am interested in both beach and boat fishing.

On the Sag Harbor side there are areas on both sides of the ferry that you can fish by wading or kayak. You'll see other anglers out there.

I am told that at night when the ferry goes out, stripers will come up to eat bait that has been churned up in the wash. This phenomenon, which I have never personally witnessed because I haven't the effort to actually look, apparently works on both the SI and Sag side of things.
