OK, I know this is not fishing related, but it's about our friends at PITA.

Channel 5 News in Boston just had a news piece re: PITA's stance on drinking beer instead of milk. In PITA's opinion, we are harming the milk cow and drinking milk is bad for us. Beer has nutrients, fiber, low in fat and cholesterol.

They are encouraging students on campuses to drink more beer. You can imagine the response from various groups like MADD, etc.

Maybe PITA will self destruct. Allegedly they have this tidbit buried on their web page, but I will not dignify them by increase their web page hit counter.

I'll drink to that!! Do you think they'd get peeved if I had a beer while I start chopping up this new rabbit hide I just got?

I'm partial to single malt whiskeys, stouts, black and tans, lagers

Next PITA will complain because we are harming the plants and we all know plants have feelings.

Finally, PITA said something that I can agree with. Seriously, this will go a long way to exposing this group as a bunch of loonies. The only folks they will appeal to will be people like the empty headed celebrities that throw lobsters back into the wild.

The bottom line to their position, as reported by the Ch. 5 article, from the PETA spokesman is they know this is ridiculous, but it opens the door to questioning the ethics of animal cruelty.

At that point, my kitchen lit up like a nuclear device exploded with the commentary everyone expressed, none of which is printable. BTW, I live in the next town to the advocate of "beaver rights" who so ably helped Question One survive in the minds and hearts of the bleeders - who're now draining their cellars of overflowing animal rights floodwaters...

I know I'm "preaching to the converted", but one of their best statements (found on their web site) says that the reason it's OK to eat plants (living, breathing things, by the way) is that plants haven't evolved the abilility to flee, therefore they don't mind being eaten! Ei yi yi...
Oh and by the way, know the enemy: pita is a bread, and not a bad one I might add, PETA is the "People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals".

I prefer People for the Eating of Tasty Animals. Do they eat clams and mussels? They don't flee.
