Noresters blowin hard this weekend...callin for some big stuff.. One thing good about it is that it should stir things up a bit and push some fish south, into our waters.. My hunch is that when it settles down it should kick off the inshore albie season.

The guys up in New England are cheerin it on, because they're hopin it pushes the Giants down from Prince Edward where they've been havin the best year in recent times....Should do the same here, regarding the false albies...

One way to look at a lousy weekend forcast eh? Howie

Howie - that's how I have been thinking about the weather as the weekend NOAA report grew progressively worse over the week - just what we need to kick things into full gear.

Of course, I have a love hate relationship with NOAA.

My brother and I called off a trip today based on the forecast as of Tuesday - oops, looks like today is 10-15 knots, no rain, very fishable.

I am planning to spend the next 12 hours flipping coins about driving out to the East End. From the weekly report, sounds like McTrout found albies our east earlier this week. But if NOAA is anywhere near accurate in its forecast, Saturday and Sunday don't look real good right now. I've fished 25 knots in slightly smaller swell, and large swell in lighter winds. But the combo sounds a bit much right now.

Hmm, my guess is I will change my mind at least 10 times over the next 6 hours, wake up early tomorrow morning and decide then.

Regardless, bet by next weekend the false albacore are biting for sure.

I'm going to give it a shot early tomorrow. If I can't get around the point I'll search around from Shagwong to Gardiners and up to the north fork if the chop isn't too rough.

Also, I'm hoping for a favorable report from Josh tonight.

We'll see.-Rich

NOAA at 3:30 is looking better. If it holds, I'm gonna give it a try.

Guys--

Didn't get out there til about 3:15 this afternoon, but the water was like glass in Gardiners...beautiful...albies on the north side of the island...big ones and some nice big pods too. Unfortunately arrived at the tail end of the tide and things shut down albiewise 10 mins after we got to them. Tons of big blues arrived on the next tide, so that kept us busy for a bit. I bet the albies were strong at the Point but I haven't moved my boat to Maontauk from 3 Mile Harbor yet and didn't have the time to make the run today. Will be out there tomorrow weather permitting.
