finally got done with the break-in period on my new engine and got a chance to go after the albies this sunday at the top of the drop.

didn't have to go very far, they were in the channel a few hundred yards off the inlet, sparse birdage, a few scattered pods.

did the run 'n gun within 60' of them about 5 times and nada. before you could get a cast off, they're moving off; very spooky fish.

by this time the normal boat traffic scatters them completely, so i'll have to wait until another weekend. next time, i'll resort to cutting the engine 100' away and drifting into them.

hope this helps,
crag

Crag if your going to do the running and gunning for albies your not going to catch much doing that. Your better off sticking with the first school of bait the albies attacked cause albies are very well known to come back and attack that same school of baitfish over and over again. Its just a matter of time but at least you'll get more than a few shots at catching some.

looked pretty good, like it was going to bust open but didn't. i guess i'll just have to plan my drift better and scratch away.
