I was wondering if you need a special permit for parking to fish either one of the jetties. Also is a night permit required. Thanks for any info.

Yes, to fish the East jetty of shinnecock, you need what is called the Green Key Pass available only to residents of Suffolk County, NY. It can be purchased at the booth with proper identification. If you are not a resident of Suffolk County, you will be required to pay $10 to park for the day. Must be out of parking lot at sundown. You will not have 4x4 access to the jetty but will have to park and walk.

No, your Green Key allows you to fish only during the daytime. If you're on the east jetty, there is no access to the west jetty. You'll need to check your LI map on this one. East and west jetties are separated by the Shinnecock Inlet.

A night pass cost $35.00 and lasts the season. They are also good about letting you in during the day if you have one, so it pays if you go a lot.
