Hi Guys,
I am coming down there (from Massachusetts) next weekend to visit some friends. I will be staying in Lavallette and I have no idea what to expect.

Any advise would be much appreciated.
Thanks

Check out Island Beach State Park, which is south of Lavalette.

There is a 3-day beach vehicle permit available for $25.00, but I am not sure if thats for out-of-state drivers.

I cannot give you particulars, but its worth exploring and very close to Lavalette.

Hope this helps.

Hello,
Good time to come down.
IBSP-

http://www.stripersurf.com/ibsp.html

You may also try the bay side of IBSP. Areas are numbered. Drive to A15 and make a right on the dirt road, park the car. If no parking go back out to the street and park on the east side. Walk across the street and down the dirt road, enter bay thru the reeds. Deepest portion of Johnny Allen's Cove is right in front of you like the bottom closed end of a large horseshoe in front of you. Walk/wade around either side depending on the wind.
Drive to A21 and park in the large lot on the east side. Walk across the street and down the dirt road bearing right. Wade out and to the right down the sod banks. If you have a canoe/kayak this is where to launch also. Skys the limit or paddle towards the Lighthouse and find the large cut, walk the banks. Schoolie bass there every day now. Both are 7,8,9 weight areas, Int. lines with standard clousers etc. Big black deceiver if you stay after dark, real slow. Bring bug stuff.
Lavalette has multiple jetties. Albies are around now and often crash the first northern jetty early in the morning on Ortley Ave. Normandy beach tends to also have good sand/beach structure, no jetties. Just North of Lav. Walk on between the homes. The Surf Club tends to develop a hole in front of it, Ortley Beach, just south of Lav.

Pick up a copy of The Fisherman and just walk the beach. Mullet are around now so blue and white poppers should do the trick pretty soon early in the morn. Dawn and dusk right now with dusk better for blues lately. Bait galore.

Good luck.
Thanks

Hello,
Some good general info always helps, thanks.

http://weather.noaa.gov/cgi-bin/fmtbltn.pl?file=forecasts/marine/coastal/an/anz451.txt

www.boatersbox.com/html/njbarnegat.htm

Both walks are 5 minutes from the street max.
At A21, one is permitted to unload the boats etc. at the water's edge, then go park, very comfortable situation and popular. If you are going to fish dusk, get there early or else they won't let you get out on the water due to closing time.

Ocean side from now on will produce fish in front of the Governor's Mansion area.

Thanks
Chap
