It drives folks where I work crazy, but a few snakes (one quite large) live in a crack in the building just outside my office. Now and then some of the babies make it into the building - I view part of my job to get them back out before anyone asks building management to take drastic measures, as the snakes seem to signal good fishing for me.
In the spring, when the snake first shows itself, the bass start biting on the flats around Shelter Island. 4 seasons in a row.
This year, the snake reappeared early September, right before my first big day with the albies.
The snake is out there again today. I think there's gonna be some good fishing later this week.
Of course, its only silly superstitious behavior.
