Gentlemen:

Normally i cruise the new england board but am going down to tuckerton, nj on saturday for, yes, a goose calling contest. I think i'm going to trailer my boat down there. I understand the albie fishing can be good where barnegat inlet dumps out. Is this true? Most importantly, where may i launch? I'm not at all familiar with the area but if you give me an address or road and town for a launch i'll find it on yahoo maps. Is the opening of the inlet good good for albies? all info greatly appreciated as i've never floated those waters.... Thank you.

You can launch your boat right near the lighthouse. Head north once you get on LBI. I'm not sure the street number, but when you get near the light you need to make a left towards the bay. There is a public launch. I think you'll be okay this time of year, but it is very crowded during the summer. Limited parking. The ramp is at the south end of all the boat rental places.

I have never had good luck with albies near the inlet. I always found them 1/2 to 1 mile off in sporadic schools. I have not fished albies there in several years so they may be thicker now. Barnegat doesn't have the rips that Montauk or the Cape have to hold bait and fish so it's much more sporatic. You should be able to find bluefish to keep things interesting. Good luck.
