Thanks on your East wind knowledge guys, we are going to go for it and hope that both Mother Nature gives us a break, and our friends at NOAA might be off a bit!
I would like to put the boat in the water in Montauk harbor, is there a ramp, you guys prefer, and can I leave a truck and trailer in the lot without a ticket waiting for me on my return?
Thanks for your help.
If you get the report from the actual NOAA website, when you are on the site, there is an area called "Forecast Discussion" or "Area Forecast Discussion." While this is often kind of technical and different to read, it often gives some idea as to the probabalities of the longer term forecast and the basis for it. For example, it might tell you that a particular forecast is low probability, etc. and that the forecasters are essentially winging it. You might want to take a look at that.
Gone Fishing Marina on East Lake Drive is the preferred ramp. Right across from the airport.

Be sure and eat at the resturant at Gone Fishin'. It is just short of incredible and something you would never expect there. I ate there last Thursday with Mikesopals after fishin' the point and Shag all day and thought I was in some otherworldly place. Great Chef and service. Check to be sure they are open if you want to go. :-%
