Hi,

Was hoping you guys could help me with the question above. Historically, when have the albies left Montauk and North Fork (Plum Gut area) in the past five years or so? Will they stick around until the first big storm or is that an urban legend? I would like to get out one last time this columbus day (Monday) and was wondering if it's worth my time or a complete waste of time.

Maybe this should also open up the discussion for when was the last/latest day, on a calendar year, each of you landed a false albacore? (in New England...I know some of you might head to Harkers)

The albies will still be here . . . probably through October. Look around the archives on this site . . . I think its been posted that they usually stay till the water temps are consistently below 60. They are still in the mid to high 60s.

The albies usually stay til right around the end of the month, give or take a few days depending on weather. Some seasons I have caught them in the first few days of Nov. They thin some once the water gets below 60, but usually it gets to 57 or so before they totally bolt. Some seasons they are quite difficult to feed in the endgame. And their runs become shorter and less powerful as October progresses...I suppose b/c they are getting fat and chock full o' 'chovies.
