I have been lurking on this forum for a while and am just now making my first post. I am a freshwater fishermen (vast majority with a fly rod) with a growing interest in salt water. I am very enthusiastic about this forum and what we can share.
Here is some little-encountered advice for you. If you really want some stupid good fun on a nice day, wade the Charles below the dam in Natick. There is a decent wadeable stretch, and you can catch unlimited numbers of fish on a good day. Most will be bluegill, but you will also find pockets of pumpkinseeds, calico bass (oh yeah!), pickerel, and the occasional fine largemouth. I have been sawed off by big ones on a few occasions. It is not trout fishing, for sure, but it is close and easy and a great way to spend an afternoon.
Hope to see you out there,
NatickDave
