fished a stream in the northampton area yesterday. didnt manage to even get a hit myself but did run into a group that was electroshocking and turning up lots of browns. some were only an inch or two long, proving that there are browns successfully reproducing in there. they also caught a brown that was about 22 inches long and must have been 4 pounds easy. huge. they released all these fish. though im not at liberty to tell the name of this stream, just wanted to say get out there and look. some real gems out there. good luck.

Believe it or not, there is also a naturally reproducing population of wild brown trout right here in Bourne. :brow
It's the surviving remanants of an ancient trout hatchery which used to supply brown trout to a small group of spring fed ponds which belonged to a group of attorneys from Boston. They ran it as a private club, until it disbanded sometime around the mid 50's. Curt Gowdy bought the land and the ponds in the 60's. Now, it belongs to the Town of Bourne as part of their conservation land.
I bumped into Ma F&W up there several years back electroshocking the ponds, and neighboring stream. I didn't see them shock the ponds, but was told they took several brown trout up to 19". But, I did see them shock the tiny stream which connects the ponds, and they took quite a few baby brown trout up to three inches long.
