Fished Walden pond via Kayak on Sunday morning with no fish to show for my time. I trolled and cast grey ghost, wollybugger, rainbow trout, and clouser flies. Mostly fishing for trout, but spooked a few smallmouths in one of the coves and decided to try the clouser for awhile. Most of my time was spent in the coves near the railroad tracks. I saw a few stocked trout jump out of the water but no other surface activity. I also saw two baitfisherman catch trout near the boat ramp. I forgot how ugly hatchery trout are when first released.

i was there for a little while last week and had the same thing happen to me. a few stockies jumping etc. it sort of makes me wonder if it is going to happen there this year. maybe that is just a panicked statement, but it is pretty late in the year and it has been colder for a while know.
i might check it out for a few hours today. i don't know though, it is pretty cold.

On those stockies, throw a wooly bugger with lots of flash. Or try a hare's ear or similar pattern fished on a floating or intermediate line. The fish may take the hare's ear for those deer pellets they feed on in hatchery.
It snowed this time of year last year. I caught trout up until Christmas eve last year. Trout fishing will be decent until the water gets in the 30's. The browns don't really spawn for another month. When that happens it may be cold, but work the shores for big guys or spaz little guys.

Shiners always work too if you want to bring home fish. Garth, email me if you want my Walden heathen method. Great Haba pics by the way. Thanks:)
