Took day off, had to fish pre-storm. Started fishing evening hatch around 1:30.
Pond to myself. Absolutely heaven!!! Despite windy conditions, found a good midge hatch on non-windy shore. Worked a couple of these new midge patterns I tied.
I think I figured it out. Slammed fish. Totals on day: 2 Rainbows, 1 Tiger and 7 Browns. All fish were between 11 and 15 inches. All holdovers. Great fish exhibiting pre-spawn behavior.
Would have caught more fish but I broke 2 off with the 6X I was using. Only had 2 #16's in the box, disaster. Could have been a 20 fish day.
Oh well, I will show up next week with the same pattern tied in a few different colors and tied smaller than the #16's I was using.
Oh yeah, water temps around 54 degrees. Up a little bit. It's not over for at least a month!!!
