Sam, I found 6-7" of good black ice on the medium size pond I fished in Central Maine last Sunday. I'm a bit north of you though. There is a lot of ice talk at the attached site for further south. Check it out.

Sure thing, Sam. The guys at that site are "ice nuts" as you can see. We probably won't make much more ice this week, so be careful out there. Some guys say 2.5 inches of ice is good. I look for 4. I had a good first outing. Jigged up 37 mixed bass and perch. A lot of action. I wish the same for you.

A few inches of ice at the Rte 85 crossing of Hopkinton Reservoir but I wouldn't trust it yet. That doesn't deter several who've already set tilts up, however. Most of the rest of the reservoir is open water or skim coated at best.

A1 in westboro is not safe as of 12/26, Neither are Big and Little Chauncey. Tonite's cold temp may harden up the ice and make a spot or two safe. I'll check friday and report back for anyone looking for some hardwater action this weekend.

A1 and Chauncey were fishable this weekend. I caught about 1/2 doz bass at A1. No size to them.
Did sound like one group got a tiger muskie and I saw at least one good bass.
I heard that 4 pike were put onto the ice saturday at Chauncey.
Medium shiners were in short supply.

Fantastic --127-3-
Have Shiners, will travel. Lets hope this front doesn't soften it up before tomorrow.
