I am in the process of becoming a new boat owner. my question is, other than the obvious(pfd's, fire extinguisher...) what is the most important "add on" i'm going to need? i have the dealer throwing in a depth finder/fish finderas part of the deal, what will help me the most beyond that? gps?
all input is greatly appreciated.
thanks,
dan

What kind of boat? Gas capacity could be a concern. If you're running off of a 6 gallong tank I would want more than one. A battery switch is a good idea too. You need to pay attention to where the compass is mounted and what you put near it or possibly have it adjusted by a professional. We once went through two new ones...returned the "defective" ones for new ones...only to find it was the location of other things near it that was the problem. Run a few courses to check it BEFORE you need to depend on it.

it's a 21 ft "bay boat" fuel capacity is 65 gal. cheapo hand held gps acceptable? anchor isn't a bad idea! has a horn. cb type radio i think is a must (not a cell phone owner)
thanks again,
keep em coming

We use a handheld gps in our boat...bought the dash mountable holder....water resistant is good.
