View Full Version : Recipe for Teasers fly
Hi, I've been asked to tie some teaser flies for a friend. He uses the (teaser) fly in tandem with a plug. I'm looking for recipes or a website.
Thanks for your help.

Any fly can be used as a teaser, but I'd say you can't go wrong with a Ray's fly, or deceiver.

Goodday, teaser flies are used quite often by those in the know here in tropical Australia. generally the fly should be about one fifth the length of the plug and the best battern found out here is a small deceiver type fly run about three inches in front of the plug and if possible slightly higher in the water i.e. it runs about one and a half inches above the level of the plug. Colors should be similar to what is swimming in the water as bait. I have found that most of the serious plug/lure taking fish are happy about this sort of set up and when running this sort of setup you may find the fly catches about 95% of the fish with only the odd one on the plug. For this reason your teaser flies must be fairly robust and able to handle a fair bit of chewing. Other longish baitfish type flies also work well and as long as it is not too long the pattern does not matter all that much. -Shagga
