The fly is very nice in the vise but it looks like a problem with your fly will be fouling of the hurl when fishing.

I have not found that to be a problem in the several years I have been fishing this style of fly. Some people do. It is in the casting method.Slow down the stroke and open up the loop size, and let the cast "happen".

Yes, that is an interesting approach. This has caused me to become more interested in this so I've been taking advantage of some free time with the snow conditions today and checking through the archive on this board. I found references and some links to these flies and to the Ken Abrames Stripermoon site and got really absorbed over there as well. There is a great amount of information there about presenting these kind of flies. I see where this comes from and where it is going.
Thanks for pointing it out.
boarmountain, have you ever used Icelandic sheep hair instead of/in addition to bucktail in some of these patterns? Its length allows you to stretch out that body farther.I've been using it sparsely with the bucktail on my flatwings...Did I transgress the flatwing Law?Sorry I don't have the means to post a picture. Thanks for all your great pictures and awesome flies...I really enjoy them....Garrick
I don't know how I put that Icon up there....My question is serious.

I hanen't used icelandic sheep for that. It would probably work real well.
When I lived in MT., I used to raise Icelandic sheep. They taste great and you get great material for flies!
