Does anyone have any experience with these boats? Bob, I've seen you mention that you have an Aquasport but am not sure of the model. Are you happy with it? Basically just looking for any type of input or opinions that first-hand experience brings. Thanks.

I have the 175 Aquasport, osprey. center console with a 90hp 2stroke yamaha. I push it hard all summer long.(and some winter cod trips) Those that ride with me know that if the wind picks up we will be in for a wet ride. I could go very slow and stay drier in the chop but then it takes forever to get anywhere. This boat is easy to handle on and off the trailer. The ride is decent. I take it over to Martha's Vineyard frequently and to Nantucket when the conditions allow me to run at the higher throttle settings. Coming back is always slower. I have no complaints or regrets about the boat. I do wish I could have afforded a 4stroke.

Bob/RT'ers,
I'm looking at getting a boat as well. I'm looking at maybe a new Dusky ~ 20'. I've read they were good boats, well made, good value for the $$$. I'd appreciate any comments from RT'ers.
For the used boat route, I saw newer 22' AS for sale w/T-Top & trailer for 30,000/bo. Boat looks clean. Opinions? Too much boat for one person?
Why do you like the four stroke better? What's the tradeoff. Other the the late 90's Evinrude Fitch outboards, what other engines should be avoided?
Sorry for all the questions.
I always appreciate the good advice I get here at reel-time.
Thanks,
Joe

On an ealier boat I had a 40ph suzuki 4-stroke. I could carry on a conversation without yelling with the boat on plane. It was so quiet at idle the most sound I heard was the tell-tale hitting the water. I used almost half as much gas with the 4-stroke over a lower powered 2-stroke.
Granted now there are some ficht designs that are given 4-strokes a run for their money.
Currently I fascinated by what bombadier is producing. If they gain a good track record I would consider them when I repower.

I would be fascinated too...my new issue of FF Saltwater came yesterday and there's an ad for the new Evinrudes. Claims to be faster, more fuel efficient, cleaner burning and lighter weight than 4 strokes AND it has a 3 year non-declining warranty. Even with the bad warrany experience we had with them it could be tempting. For everyone buying a new motor, a little tidbit from our learning experience.. make sure when you get the outboard that the dealer writes down which prop/pitch they have installed on it and if the dealer does any work and changes anything like the prop/pitch have it documented. We blew a brand new motor and they wouldn't warranty it because it had the wrong prop on it. The dealer claimed we changed the prop and after a long fight when they told us we had to pay for the rebuild we chose a different dealer. His guess was that someone needed a prop which they didn't have in stock so they took it off of our motor while it was on the showroom floor and slapped a "temporary" one on it which got overlooked when it was prepped for us.

Bob, thanks a lot. That was eaxactly the type of info I was looking for. Getting wet isn't really a concern, but I do hope to be able to cover a little bit of ground with it. Glad to hear you're confident with it, maybe I'll see you out there in the spring...Thanks again and to all the other guys on this post and others who are looking at new boats, good luck!
