One of my friends at the office has decided to start trout fishing again. He's looking for cheap used gear (since he's probably not going to do a lot with his work schedule). Anyone have any gear they're looking to unload?

Mark,

I have a perfectly fine Fenwick that I no longer use. It is a 7 wt., I think, but I used to fish it with a 6 wt. line. There is a funny story to my acquisition of it. My dad invited me to join him (and his "rich buddies" as he called them) on a pack horse trip to chase cutthroats on Pellican Creek in Yellowstone many years ago. One of the horses got loose and trampled my old Fenwick into about a dozen pieces. The guide was a pretty reserved guy and didn't do a lot of apologizing, but when we got back to town, he quietly slipped away and bought me this one as a replacement.

I also have an old Garcia reel that could go with it. The combo is good for trout and warmwater, IMHO. Both have caught a ton of fish over the years, that's for sure. Tell your buddy to drop me a line if he is interested.

He looking for flyfishing or conventional gear? I have a Shimano rod/conventional reel combo, barely used but a good 10 years old at least. It's a tad oversized for trout (6 foot rod I think) but would work ok and would also be fine for just about any other freshwater fish around here except pike. Also would be fine for small schoolies.

I also have two 6 wgt Fenwick graphite composite fly rods, very old and well used, and probably a none too fancy reel kicking around someplace. I don't know about fly line.

Fly gear...he'll be going out a few times during the summer with his son, fishing streams.

I'd hook him up with some of my gear, but I'm planning to teach the kids with it.
