Hi All,
New to the board and have a question on the above boat that I am considering....along with the same sized Mako, Whaler and Triumph.

I'll be using the boat primarily in the coastal areas of the LI Sound, CT Rivers and maybe a lake once in a while. My main intendend use for the boat is for fishing.

I used to own a 24ft boat and used it in the Sound but prefer fishing in the skinnier water and rivers and this boat wasn't able due to it's size to get in those spots.

Any and all input on the Maritime would be a great help...and if you'd like to add your opinions on the other boats as well that's an added bonus as well.

Thanks for your help.

I sold my Maritime 1690 and got a Pathfinder 1900V. The difference in money is small when you compare what you're getting. I'll never go back

I looked at the maritime when I upgraded. The price was good the storage space was limited. As far as performance, I've ridden in some maritimes and liked the ride. No opinion on the others other than out of my price range (whaler)

I think if you review past posts you will see most guys like a boat bigger than 16'.

I've got the 18 and wish I had the 20. The beam is the same on both models, the 20 is simply 2 ft. longer and a tad heavier. It would be nice, however, to have that additonal length when fishing three guys.

As Quicksilver said, you may want to consider a bigger boat than the 16. An 18'er in most boat makes will do just fine on relatively skinny water. Plus a larger boat will enable you to more comfortably fish waters just a little farther out. How shallow do you plan to go in this boat?

I have the maritime 2090. I get into some pretty skinny water with it. i had a mako 15, and you can't compare the ride. Storage is limited, but I flyfish and don't need much more anyway.

I have an 18ft Maritime. I would definately recommend the 18' or 20' model over the 16'. All the Maritimes are EXTREMELY DRY!! They do pound a liitle in 3ft chop but if you want a boat to get into skinny water there are trade offs.

Do yourself a favor and look at a Pathfinder -Bayside Marine in Duxbury- Dry boat with plenty of storage(rods too) and this boat loves a chop

Purchased a 2090 last year fished it Sept. Oct. and really enjoyed it. Although storage is limited there is room enough for the essentials, plus extras just takes a little planning. My theory is "the more room, the more useless stuff you bring":D

If your looking into a Maritime 18, I'm putting mine up for sale as soon as I can uncover it. I love the boat it has suited me fine. I'm ready to upgrade. I do have my Capt. license and have brought out 2 client at a time and have had no problem with them both fishing out of the boat wether fly or spin. I did put a 62lb thurst electric troller on transom and it pushes fine.
